Growing Taller, Even When You Sleep

by Rodney Williams

You need sleep in order to function. During sleep, your body replenishes and repairs any damage that occurred when you were awake. Sleep regulates your body’s growth and a good night’s sleep can increase your height.

Gravity is your body’s biggest foe when it is trying to grow. Your spine and joint cartilage is filled with fluid. The more fluid you have the taller you will be. However, gravity compresses your skeleton and forces the fluid out of the cartilage. Your body actually shrinks during the day because of gravity. You can fight the negative effects of gravity by getting the right sleep.

You can make your body grow and gain height while you sleep in many ways. When you are active during the day, your body releases Human Growth Hormone called HGH. Lying horizontally during your sleep gives your bones and joints a chance to decompress. The more sleep you get, the more effectively your body will use this HGH.

You can control how much your body benefits from sleep by preparing for sleep during the day. This includes the proper exercise, sleep environment, nutrition, and posture. When you exercise during the day, it prevents the natural decompression that takes place. This means you need to decompress less and can grow taller.

Your sleep environment is also a key to increasing height while you sleep. Sleeping for a long time will not necessarily mean you are getting the sleep you need to grow. You have to reach a state of deep sleep for your body to begin to grow. Deep sleep also gives your neurological system the energy it needs to function. Therefore, you must make sure that you have the right sleep environment to reach deep sleep.

First, sleep in a dark room because light can distract your mind and keep you from deep sleep. Also, make sure your room is well ventilated. Your brain needs oxygen to keep your body at its best. A well ventilated room will give your body the highest levels of oxygen. Make sure you keep your hands and feet warm so that you do not wake up from being cold. Finally, make sure you wear soft and loose fitting clothes while you sleep. Tight clothes can constrict your body and block the flow of blood, preventing HGH from reaching all of your bones.

Eating the right food before bedtime can have a very positive effect on growth. Drink plenty of water to cleanse the toxins in your system. Milk is full of the amino acid tryptophan which serves as a sedative to help you get a deeper sleep. Make sure you do not smoke or consume caffeine that will keep your body stimulated. Also, do not eat a very large meal at least three hours before you plan to sleep because digestion keeps your body distracted from growing.

You need to get the right amount of sleep in order to increase your height. Most people only need 8 to 10 hours of sleep. You want to reach a deep sleep, but staying asleep too long will make you lazy and lead to weight gain. If you do not get enough sleep you will develop illness and other side affects. The best way to regulate sleep is to let your body tell you how much sleep you need. Go to bed early and allow your body to wake up naturally, which will be when your brain signals that growth and repairs are complete. Also, try to go to bed at the same time of day because your brain will begin to send out a sleep signal to help you fall asleep faster. Relaxation techniques also help you fall asleep faster. One technique is to inhale deeply through your nose, hold your breath, and then exhale slowly out your nose.

You can get good sleep if you have good sleep posture. Good posture keeps your spine aligned and lets HGH travel more freely throughout your body. If you sleep on your back, make sure you stay flat and put a small pillow under your knees. When your knees are slightly bent it helps blood circulate better and send more oxygen to your brain. You will have more productive sleep if you do not use your pillow. If you like to sleep on your side, make sure your knees are bent and you use a flat pillow to support your neck. Smaller, flat pillows work best because they keep your neck in a more natural position. Sleeping on your stomach is not recommended because it will only exaggerate sway back and other poor posture.

Your body grows during sleep. This is when you can counteract gravity. It is also when your body uses HGH to lengthen and strengthen bones. Furthermore, sleep gives you the energy and health you need to thrive during the day. If you reward your body with sleep, it will reward you with growth.
