Insomnia Symptoms

Insomnia symptoms vary for everyone and while one person will describe insomnia as being unable to get to sleep, another will say it is all about sleeping for just a couple of hours and then waking up again. It is different for everyone and the frequency of sleepless nights varies a lot too.

So, everyone is different but the typical symptoms might be:

Unable to get to sleep. Laying in bed but unable to relax and drift off to sleep.

Waking after a few hours and struggle to fall asleep again.

Waking up too early in the morning feeling that you have had far too little sleep but unable to get back to sleep.

Each of these will have similar effects on you the following day. You will feel tired and listless, unable to function properly in your work and family relationships.

You may feel emotional which can either be angry and irritable or sad and tearful.

You may feel frustrated at your inability to perfom tasks that you would normally find simple and your thinking processes are reduced in speed and capability.

The overall insomnia symptoms can be summed up as you simply feel rubbish.
